Shamina Khanom, Juris Doctor (JD) I was brought to New York City from Bangladesh when I was 2 years old. As a woman who is a native New Yorker, Bengali, an immigrant, and Muslim I have seen the adversities that my communities face in their daily lives, where they are stripped of available resources and opportunities disallowing them to further succeed.

When one community faces injustice or loses its rights, other communities are disenfranchised in a domino effect. Community cohesion and well-being can only occur by actively participating and initiating programs that address the present issues our communities are facing. With my work in the Archer Kent Blood Center for Civil and Political Rights (AKBCCPR) and interactions with our national and international partners, I will strive to give back more political equity to our diverse communities.
